Actor Sheeba Azhar Samrat, currently seen as Savitri Bua in Zee TV‘s Vasudha, reflects on how years of struggle have reshaped her perspective on festivals, work, and family.
Having faced prolonged career instability, Sheeba views working during the festive season not as a compromise, but as a privilege. “Honestly, I don’t really feel like I am sacrificing celebrations for work. Even if I am shooting during festivals, I feel happy because I am working. For me, right now, the first answer during the festival season is work, work, work.”
“Today, I am working, so I feel like I am celebrating. If I don’t work and don’t have money, then I won’t celebrate. Now that I am working, I feel like I am finally able to celebrate myself and enjoy festivals too,” she adds.
Living independently for years has made her comfortable with solitude, though thoughts of her family—especially her mother—keep her grounded and driven. “My life has been spent alone for so long that it doesn’t feel like I am suddenly missing out. Of course, sometimes I feel emotional when I think about my mother growing older. I want to spend these moments with her. I want to get more work, earn more money and give her a better lifestyle.”
“I love hectic schedules because I feel like I am finally doing something after so many years of struggle. I am happy that I can support my family financially. I earn money and make them happy by giving them gifts, chocolates and other things,” she says.
For now, continuous work remains her main focus, though she holds onto a simple vision for celebrations in the future. “I would actually want to shoot for 30 days a month. Right now, I want to work and build my life. Maybe later, when I am more settled, I will be able to enjoy festivals and traditions more freely.”
