Vijayendra Kumeria has been winning attention with his strong performance as the main hero, Sanyam Singh, in Colors TV’s Juhi Mui. The actor has once again shown his ability to bring depth and sincerity to his character, making Sanyam a role that viewers can connect with. As Teacher’s Day is celebrated, Vijayendra opened up about what the day means to him today, the person he thinks of first and the one lesson from his school days that continues to help him in his professional life.
For Vijayendra, the meaning of Teacher’s Day has changed with age. While school made him see teachers as the people who taught him lessons in the classroom, adulthood has made him see life itself as the biggest teacher.
“As an adult, I feel life itself is the biggest teacher. When you are in school, you think of teachers and books when you talk about learning. But as you grow up, you realise that every experience teaches you something. Some experiences are happy, some are difficult, but each one leaves you with a lesson. That is what Teacher’s Day means to me today. I have learnt a lot simply by going through different situations in life,” Vijayendra shared.
When asked about the first person who comes to his mind on hearing the words “Happy Teacher’s Day”, Vijayendra did not have to think twice. For him, it is his father.
“The first person who comes to my mind is my dad. He has been one of the biggest influences in my life, and I have learnt so many things from him over the years. When I think about Teacher’s Day today, I naturally think of my father because some of the most important life lessons are not always taught in a classroom,” he said.
Interestingly, one of the biggest lessons Vijayendra continues to carry from his school days is discipline. “One thing that has really helped me is following a disciplined life. I studied at St. Xavier’s, and the teachers there were very strict. At that time, as a kid, I used to feel that they were being too strict and that there was so much discipline around us. But now, when I look back, I understand the value of what they were trying to teach us,” Vijayendra explained.
He added, “That discipline has helped me personally and professionally as well. In the entertainment industry, where things can be unpredictable and there can be a lot of pressure, being disciplined helps you stay focused and responsible. It is something I have carried from my school days into my work life. In fact, even producers have appreciated this quality of mine and have told me that they would like to work with me again. So, something that felt strict to me as a child has actually become one of the qualities that I value the most today.”
For Vijayendra Kumeria, Teacher’s Day is therefore not just about remembering school teachers. It is also about recognising the people, experiences and values that continue to shape a person long after school is over. From his father to the discipline he learnt at St. Xavier’s, the actor believes that the lessons from his early years continue to have a place in his life and career.
