Actor Abrar Ali, who plays Raunak Virani in Star Plus and Balaji Telefilms’ Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, has opened up about his off-screen equation with the young Virani clan and how they are carrying forward the iconic legacy.
In a candid conversation with us, Abrar spoke about the camaraderie on set and what it means to play the role of Karan and Nandini’s son in the show.
He said, “The bond we share is absolutely brilliant. Samaira (Aanchal Soni) and Garima (Drashti Bhanushali) play my sisters on screen, but off screen, we are massive buddies. I share a particularly special equation with Drashti. We are constantly making reels, cracking jokes, and having a lot of fun together. We’ve really become besties in a very short span of time.”
He added, “What I love the most is that our friendship is not limited to just being co-actors. We genuinely enjoy each other’s company. Whether we are between shots, waiting for our scenes, or just chilling on set, we are always laughing about something or the other. With Drashti, it is even more special because our sense of humour matches a lot. We can talk for hours, make fun reels, and just be ourselves without any filter. That comfort is very rare to find.”
Abrar also praised his other co-stars, saying, “Beyond that, my equation with Sid (Harshit Joshi), Nakul (Daksh Sharma) and Vaishnavi (Swati Sharma) is also very good. They are all incredibly supportive and warm. From day one, there has been a sense of mutual respect and understanding amongst all of us. We motivate each other, we pull each other’s leg, and we are always there to help if anyone needs a line or emotional support during a heavy scene. That kind of support system really matters when you are working on a daily show.”
Talking about the responsibility of being part of such a legendary franchise, the actor shared, “We are all aware of the big shoes we have to fill by carrying the Virani legacy forward. It is not just another show for any of us. It is an emotion for millions of viewers who have grown up watching Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. That shared responsibility has actually brought us very close. We understand that pressure, but instead of letting it pull us down, we use it to uplift each other. Honestly, we truly operate like a real family behind the scenes. We fight like siblings, we care like siblings, and we celebrate like siblings. There is a lot of love and positivity on set, and I feel that energy will definitely translate on screen as well for the audience to feel.”
On the professional front, Abrar earlier featured in ‘Chikoo Yeh Ishq Nachaye’, ‘Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar’, ‘Anupamaa’, among others.
