Young actor Sohil Singh Jhuti, who plays the role of Parth in Star Plus‘ Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, has been an avid music lover. He believes that music is a powerful, invisible medium that connects directly to the soul. This World Music Day, Sohil opens up about how music shaped his childhood, his incredibly diverse playlist—ranging from the high-octane rock of Linkin Park to the spiritual depth of the Wadali Brothers—and why he refuses to stick to just one favourite artist.

“As an actor, we emote on screen with expressions and gestures,” Sohil reflects thoughtfully. “But music emotes even what words can’t. It has played an incredibly important role in my growing up. Whether it was classic Bollywood songs or my favourite band Linkin Park, music has always helped me in every situation in life. It has helped me pull through tough times, it has motivated me, comforted me, and calmed me down whenever I needed it most.”

When it comes to the songs that never fail to lift his spirits and inject instant energy into a heavy day, Sohil’s taste spans different generations and continents. “The 90s Shah Rukh Khan tracks,” Sohil shares with a smile. “Basically, anything from Bollywood’s 90s and 2000s eras instantly changes my mood.”

His playlist is a brilliant mosaic of legendary artists. From the raw rock energy of Linkin Park and Green Day to the undisputed pop royalty of Michael Jackson, and moving seamlessly into the soulful, classical brilliance of the Wadali Brothers.

Sohil refuses to box himself into a single musical preference. He likes a variety of genres when it comes to music. “While Bollywood and pop mean sheer entertainment, Sufi music keeps me aligned. I shift to Rock, Reggae and House to recharge my batteries.”

When pressed to name just one singer who stands above the rest, Sohil admits that it’s an impossible task. “I can’t name just one because every artist has a completely different style, and that variety is exactly what attracts me the most,” Sohil explains. “Take Michael Jackson, for example. The King of Pop had a brilliant way of expressing his feelings. In a song like Beat It, he’s tackling gang wars, but that same singer has also given us masterpieces like Man in the Mirror and Earth Song. Every artist carries a different world within them, so picking just one is impossible for me.”
