I don't find negative characters convincing on TV: Sangeita Chauhan

Sangeita Chauhan, who rose to fame as Meghna in Colors’ Ek Shringaar – Swabhimaan, is glad to be back on-screen to entertain her fans.

The actress has recently joined the cast of Zee TV’s Piya Albela as Meghna.

Talking about the role, she shares, “I was away from TV because I was looking for something really challenging and interesting. I was avoiding cameos too but when I learnt about this character I was excited to do it. Firstly, the character name was Meghna and that itself was one of the main reasons to agree to do the soap because I could re-live all the moments of Swabhimaan as Meghna. Secondly, it was Rajshri Productions, which is again my first show’s producers and an amazing team to work with. Lastly, I had to portray the role of a blind girl which is a challenge. Initially, I used to forget that I am a blind girl in the series and act like a normal girl. However, now, I have learnt a lot and have prepared myself for this particular role.”

When we ask does she mind playing a negative character on-screen, she says, “I would not do negative roles, as I feel on TV, the negative characters are not convincing. If I feel my negative character is convincing enough for the viewers who are watching then I wouldn’t mind doing it.”

Sangeita wants to work on all platforms. “I would want to explore as an actor. If I am creatively satisfied with my character then I don’t mind it to be on any platform. I wish to be part of the digital space which is rapidly growing. It will give a push to me as an actor too.”

Way to go girl!
