From family dramas to historical series, Indian TV audiences enjoy distinct content. In the recent past, new seasons of old TV shows are being launched. Keeping in the demand of the audience, the makers brought new seasons of many successful serials. Some entertained people in the initial times but did not last long. At the same time, some shows were closed within a few months of airing. The main reason for this was considered to be TRP. Hence, today we bring you the list of the most promising sequels that failed to measure up to the expectations of season 1 and failed to impress viewers.

Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon: The Star Plus show made a comeback because of its booming popularity but alas, it did not meet viewers’ expectations. What was a cult started by Sanaya Irani and Barun Sobti, failed miserably when it tried making its way back to TV.

Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2: The show that featured Parth Samthaan and Erica Fernandes as Anurag Basu and Prerna Sharma was trying to survive but the pandemic struck in and the lockdown was imposed. Due to this, the makers had to scrap the show. The original Star Plus show featured Shweta Tiwari and Cezanne Khan.

Pratigya: The pairing of Pooja Gaur and Arhaan Behl was in the news during Pratigya season 1. This year saw the start of a new season with the old cast. But the show couldn’t survive and was shut down due to low TRP.

Sanjivani: The medical drama Sanjivani was in news when it came back with season 2. The sequel that featured Surbhi Chandna, Gurdeep Kohli, Rohit Roy, Mohnish Bahl, Namit Khanna, Sayantani Ghosh, and a few others, failed to impress the masses. After Mohnish Bahl quit the show citing that his character had nothing creative to offer, the show, too, saw a dip in numbers and went off air.

Beyhadh 2: The Sony TV show starring Jennifer Winget, Shiin Narang, and Ashish Chowdhry was launched amid much fanfare at a plush hotel. Given the success of its first season, the press conference was a huge one. However, it failed to grab eyeballs, and lockdown just added to the dipping TRPs. Therefore, the show was axed during the lockdown period itself.

Brahmarakshas: The second of Brahmarakshas, titled Brahmrakshas 2: Phir Jaag Utha Shaitan featuring Pearl V Puri and Nikki Sharma aired on November 22, 2020, and went off air in April 2021. It did not meet the viewers’ expectations like in season 1.

Recently, sequels of Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi, Balika Vadhu, Sasural Simar Ka, Saath Nibhaana Saathiyaa, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain were launched on TV and they have been entertaining masses for a while now. We hope they live up to the audience’s expectations.
