Bigg Boss produced by Endemol Shine India, the iconic show of Colors TV that has always taken the nation by storm, made a dhamakedaar comeback but with a twist. Reeling from the trailblazing success, fandom, and social media trends, Bigg Boss is now set to turn the tables and play the game for its 16th edition. For the first time, the master of the house ‘Bigg Boss’ will be stepping into the game in a never-seen-before avatar and challenging the contestants with a playbook of 15 seasons. The 16th season cracks another big first with an ‘Interactive India’ episode, through which the viewers will get the opportunity to engage and connect with housemates every week.
Bigg Boss 16 kick-started over the weekend amid lots of power-packed performances and dhamakedaar moments. The show began with a glimpse of Bigg Boss 16 house theme this season which is ‘circus’. While being the on-point host that we know and see, Salman Khan later introduced us to the Bigg Boss 16 contestants. Salman welcomed the first contestant, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia. Bigg Boss proposed an idea to make her the captain if she allots each of the contestants, entering after her, a bed and a task. She took things into her hand, therefore showing potential.
Abdu Rozik, the popular Tajikistani singer, entered the Bigg Boss house next and he even danced with the host. Priyanka Choudhary and Ankit Gupta, the next participants of the show and the lead pair of the show Udaariyan, played fun games on the stage. Next, the host welcomed rapper MC Stan, who stated that he will never clean bathrooms in the house. Archana Gautam, the bubbly model-turned-actor and politician, was the next contestant to get locked inside the house and actor Gautam Vig joined her on stage.
Shalin Bhanot, on the other hand, made a smashing entry on the BB stage. Soundarya Sharma, an actor and a dentist by profession, shook a leg with the host. Shortly after, Shiv Thakare, who participated and emerged as the winner in Bigg Boss Marathi 2, announced his entry on the show. Imlie fame Sumbul Touqeer made a fun entry on the stage, leaving the host stumped with her mimicry.
Manya Singh, who has been crowned Miss India in 2020 runner-up and the daughter of an autorickshaw driver, shared her fair share of struggles she faced in her personal and professional career while talking to Salman on the stage. Rajasthani dancer and popular stage performer, Gori Nagori was the next participant in the show. Uttaran stars Tina Datta and Sreejita De entered the Bigg Boss house together and Sreejita called Tina ‘dominating’. Lastly, filmmaker-actor Sajid Khan announced that he’s entering the house as a contestant this season. He talked about his failures in his personal and professional life.
Bigg Boss 16, like always, is magnificent. The grand premier hooked audiences to the show and it seems the show will witness never-seen-before tasks that will entertain fans. This season also has ‘maut ka kuaa’ which has its importance and contestants will soon witness what kind of dangerous elements it will bring. However, one thing that we did not like was the contestants’ line-up. If we see at the line-up, we can witness TV actors dominating this season. Actors Tina Datta, Sreejita De, Sumbul Touqeer, Gautam Vig, Priyanka Choudhary, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, and Ankit Gupta are part of the show and the majority of these actors have earlier worked in popular Colors TV daily soaps.
‘Love me or hate me, you can’t ignore me’ is the mantra of Bigg Boss. Hence, overall, it makes for an entertaining watch. IWMBuzz would rate the show 3 out of 5 stars and would recommend readers to watch and enjoy it.
