IWMBuzz.com reviews Star Plus’ show Faltu

Star Plus, the popular GEC, recently launched a new show Faltu produced under Boyhood Productions. The show, which stars Niharika Chouksey, Aakash Ahuja, and others, has managed to impress the audience until now. The Faltu story revolves around a child who was born into a patriarchal setup.

Set in Rajasthan, Faltu highlights the story of every girl who is denied, refuted, and disrespected in her own household. Yet, Faltu never gives up on her dreams and her self-belief is what takes her places. The show sheds light on the real struggle of a young girl whose feudal family has time and again rejected her individuality and has treated her as somebody who is not their own. Though Faltu’s father adores her, her mother considers her useless, as she feels Faltu is responsible for her twin brother’s death. It will be a treat to watch how ‘Faltu’ proves herself as somebody who is full of life and never gives up during dire situations. She also later meets a hero Aayan Mittal (played by Aakash) who eventually becomes her ally.

Bringing the authenticity of the local flavour and rustic cultural elements to the storyline, the makers have maintained the narrative very simple. The attention to detail, the expressions of the actors, the costume, set, all these prove that the job is done well. The dialogues are extremely well-written.

Now, talking about the casting, the lead girl Niharika Chouksey nails it with her performance. She is the life of the show. Her innocence brings a smile to our faces. Like her father, she too is shown to have superhuman skills. Niharika and Aakash’s pairing is unusual. Aakash looks very young in front of him. However, they have a spark in their chemistry and that might work in their favour. The other supporting cast is equally good.

Faltu promises to be an inspirational story that holds a very strong message for society about the strength of a girl child. Overall it’s a good start for the show with some impressive performances.

IWMBuzz.com credits the show 4 out of 5 stars.
