Set to premiere on September 19 at 8 PM on Star Plus and JioHotstar, the show brings 100 contestants together for a competition where logic, observation, and the ability to think differently matter more than traditional general knowledge.
Produced by Banijay Asia in association with BBC Studios, India Ke Top 1% is the Indian adaptation of the international format The 1% Club. Here are five reasons the show could make for an interesting weekend watch.
1. Anil Kapoor In A New Game Show Avatar
Anil Kapoor takes center stage as the host, bringing his trademark energy and spontaneity to a format built around quick thinking. The actor has also spoken about interacting with 100 participants and discovering their individual stories during the show.

2. Common Sense Takes Center Stage
Forget memorizing obscure facts. The show’s questions focus on common sense, everyday situations, logic, and observation. Contestants need to look at familiar situations differently and arrive at the answer through reasoning rather than specialized knowledge.

3. 100 Contestants, 13 Questions And ₹1 Crore At Stake
The scale of the competition is one of its biggest talking points. One hundred contestants participate simultaneously, with each player starting with ₹1 lakh. Across 13 questions, money from players who answer incorrectly moves into the collective prize pot, which can grow to as much as ₹1 crore.
That means every question can change the amount at stake, making even a seemingly simple answer important.
4. You Can Play Along From Home
The competition doesn’t stop inside the studio. Viewers watching on Star Plus or JioHotstar can also play along with the contestants from home. This interactive element is central to the format and lets families and friends test their common sense while watching.

5. A Fresh Take On The Reality Game Show Format
India Ke Top 1% moves away from the conventional quiz-show formula by focusing on how people think, not just what they know. As an Indian adaptation of The 1% Club, the format has already traveled to multiple international markets, including the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Australia, Israel, Turkey, Ukraine, Mexico, and the US.
The show’s promotional campaign has also given Anil Kapoor an unexpected new moment: he recently performed a viral promotional Qawwali anthem titled “Baat Khatki Toh Jeet Pakki”
for the first time in a special music video, choreographed by Ganesh Acharya.
The show’s grand arena is designed as an amphitheater-style space built to accommodate all 100 contestants together. With a circular LED floor, individual tablets and dynamic lighting, the stage is designed to visually reflect the contestants’ progress and keep the high-pressure gameplay engaging.
With 100 contestants, 13 questions, a potential ₹1 crore prize pot, and a game built around common sense, India Ke Top 1% brings a different flavor to weekend television. The show premieres September 19 at 8 PM on Star Plus and JioHotstar.
