On October 5, 2026, a fire broke out on the sets of Colors TV’s reality show Pati Patni Aur Panga Season 2, raising concerns across the entertainment industry. While no casualties have been reported, the incident has sparked conversations and concerns over artists’ and workers’ safety during shooting. Addressing the matter, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has penned a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, requesting a thorough investigation and the resignation of the current managing director of the film city.
Writing a note to the Chief Minister, the statement detailed the incident, sharing, “On behalf of the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), I wish to bring to your notice that on 05/10/2026, at around 4:00 PM, a major fire broke out on the set of Colors channel’s reality show Pati Patni Aur Panga Season 2, built inside Prime Focus Studio at Film City, Goregaon, Mumbai.”
Raising concerns over the safety of the artists, the statement reads, “The fire did not stay confined to this set. It spread to the adjoining set of the show Hustle, putting the lives of thousands of workers and artists in this complex at serious risk.”
Reflecting on the rising cases, it added, “Mumbai’s Film City is burning again, and as always, no one is being held accountable. Fire after fire, year after year, thousands of workers and artists are pushed into danger by channels, producers, and production houses that refuse to spend on basic fire safety to save a few rupees. The sets go up in flames, the poor workers pay the price, and those who profit walk away without a single consequence. Fires in Film City are not accidents. They are the result of greed, negligence, and a system that has never punished the guilty.”
Claiming no safety precautions at the set of the recent incident, the statement reveals, “There were no fire safety arrangements whatsoever on the set of Pati Patni Aur Panga Season 2, which is why the fire broke out and spread. A large number of workers and artists were working on a set that had been left completely unprotected. This is not an accident; it is criminal negligence.”
Holding the managing director responsible for the negligence, the statement says, “The studios stand inside Film City, and the management knew well that sets were running without basic fire safety. The Managing Director of Film City therefore bears full responsibility for this failure.”
Further, in the points mentioned, the association outlined its demands from the Honorable Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis.
1. A thorough, time-bound inquiry be ordered into the major fire that broke out on the set of the reality show Pati Patni Aur Panga, which then spread to the adjacent set of Hustle, and into why no fire safety arrangements were in place.
2. An FIR for negligence be registered against the channel, the producer and the production house of the show.
3. The Managing Director of Film City, who bears full responsibility, be made to resign.
4. Fire audits, on-set fire safety staff and firefighting equipment be made mandatory for every shoot in Film City, and the license of any production that fails to comply be canceled.
Lastly, the president of the association, Er. Suresh Shyamlal Gupta highlighted, “Unless accountability is fixed at the top, these fires will keep coming, and so will the loss of innocent lives. AICWA urges you to act without delay so that the lives of cine workers are given the safety they deserve.”

At the end, the letter was also carbon-copied to key state officials: Honorable Shri Akash Fundkar, Labor Minister, Maharashtra State; Honorable Shri Akash Jaiswal, State Labor Minister, Maharashtra State; Honorable Shri Ashwini Bhide, Commissioner, Brihanmumbai Mahanagar Palika.
