Colors TV show Mahadev And Sons, starring Shakti Anand, Sneha Wagh, Garvita Sadhwani and Aasim Khan in the lead roles, has become the talk of the town, but for all the wrong reasons. The show is currently facing backlash over the viral scene of Dheeraj and Rajji played by Aasim and Garvita, with fans slamming the makers, channel and the actors for romanticizing domestic abuse.

Reportedly, the backlash began with the clip of Dheeraj and Rajji’s viral scene where Dheeraj, played by Aasim Khan, slaps Rajji, played by Garvita Sadhwani, pushes her, and behaves aggressively towards her. As the clip surfaced, fans expressed their disappointment, calling out the makers and all those involved for sending the wrong message. Amid the controversy, now actor Aasim Khan, who plays the role of Dheeraj, has opened up on the matter, calling it all a misunderstanding.

Aasim, in conversation with India Forums, said, “There is a bit of controversy going on right now. Domestic violence is something that should be completely stopped, whether it is of any kind, whether a man is torturing a woman, or a woman is torturing a man. So, I am completely against it, and I don’t appreciate or encourage this. So, as far as the show is concerned, it is a misunderstanding that has been built up from one episode, and people are getting outraged because of it.”

Further, the actor explaining the scene shared, “Before that, there is a scene in which Dhiraj throws water on Rajji from the bucket. That is because Rajji is quite drunk. And in that drunk state, she says something that the whole family is trying to protect. So, he throws water on Rajji. I mean, this outrage only comes after watching half the episode and half the thing. After watching the whole episode, I hope everything will be clear to the audience. And the rest is, everything is fine. This keeps going on. The rest is, neither do the makers encourage anything like this, to show anything like this through domestic violence, nor do I personally want to be a part of anything like this. So, everything is positive. And, fine, I believe.”
