On November 4th early morning, the country woke up to a shocking news when they heard that the Editor-in-chief of Republic TV Media Network, Arnab Goswami was arrested by the Mumbai Police from his residence in Lower Parel, Mumbai for allegedly abetting the suicide of architect and interior designer, Anvay Naik.

Post the arrest, Arnab was immediately brought to the Alibaug police station in the neighbouring Raigad district.

Ever since his arrest, the country has been divided in terms of opinion. While some feel the police is just doing its duty, another section feels is unfair to curb down ‘Press Freedom’ in this manner.

He was earlier produced before a Magistrate court which remanded him in judicial custody for a period of 14 days.

Reportedly, Arnab and his legal team has challenged the plea and had moved to the Bombay HC demanding that the FIR against him should be squashed as it’s apparently ‘illegal’ and that the police should release him by granting bail.

The bail plea was underway today on November 6 and now as per reports in Republic, we hear that Justice Shinde of Bombay HC has adjourned the hearing of the bail till November 7, 12PM (Saturday).

Meanwhile on another update in a case about Arnab Goswami, reports in NDTV suggest that the Supreme Court today issued a showcause notice to the Secretary of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly asking him to report within a period of two weeks as to why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him for his letter to Arnab Goswami that allegedly warned him against disclosing house notice.

We shall update our readers more on this development soon. For more updates, stay tuned to IWMBuzz.com.
