The popular reality show premiered on Sunday, September 6, with Vijay Sethupathi taking charge as the host for its 10th edition.
The grand premiere featured 29 shortlisted personalities who appeared on the Bigg Boss Tamil 10 stage one after another. Instead of simply announcing the entire lineup, the makers let the audience decide who deserved to advance. The contestants introduced themselves live and made their case before the in-studio audience.
The live poll subsequently resulted in 10 of the 29 shortlisted personalities being eliminated. The remaining contestants moved forward in the competition and became part of the latest season, making the premiere selection process one of the major talking points of the launch.

The contestants introduced as part of the Season 10 lineup include actor Lakshmi Priya, actor Shathiga, social media influencer and aspiring actor Prithivinath, model and aspiring actor Javeed Sherif, and actor Muthazhagi.
The lineup also features make-up artist and educator Asmitha Neelamegam, dancer Avinash Ashok, actor Pandi, actor and mimicry artist Vinoth Babu, and content creator Savinya Velu.
Actor Chandini Tamilarasan, actor Kumaran Thangarajan, actor Raaghav Ranganathan, and actor Dhanyaa Pallathare are also among the names associated with the new season. Actor and dancer Mukesh, television personality and mimicry artist ‘Adavadi’ Ansar, and commoners Shama, Muniyammal and Jason complete the list provided for the premiere.
The 29 shortlisted contestants brought varied backgrounds to the stage, ranging from actors and dancers to digital creators, television personalities, professionals and common participants. The audience vote therefore became an important deciding factor before the contestants could begin their journey inside the house.
Bigg Boss Tamil 10 Gets A Democracy Room
Season 10 has also introduced a new feature inside the Bigg Boss Tamil house — the Democracy Room. As part of the season’s revamped format, the room is set to have a role in determining how the house functions.
The premiere also featured a special cross-franchise moment. Vijay Sethupathi virtually met Mohanlal, Kichcha Sudeep and Nagarjuna Akkineni, the hosts of the other three southern-language editions of Bigg Boss, which also premiered on Sunday.
With a new voting mechanism, the Democracy Room, and Vijay Sethupathi at the helm, Bigg Boss Tamil Season 10 has introduced several changes for its landmark edition. Viewers can watch the show on JioHotstar and Star Vijay at 9:30 PM, and an unfiltered 24-hour channel is also available on the streaming platform.
