Actor Dayanand Shetty, in a recent conversation with podcast host Siddharth Kannan, opened up about one of the most successful shows on Indian television, CID, speaking about the show going off air, singer Lata Mangeshkar’s reaction to the off-air news, and more.
The Reason Behind CID Going Off-Air
When asked about it, Dayanand asked to leave the internal politics. Reacting to the hurt of CID shutting down after 21 years and if they tried to save it, the actor mentioned that it is now hurting the channel, highlighting that the actors will pass by.
21 Years Without A Single Contract
Dayanand shared that the show started in 1998 and later, in 2016, the channel wanted to change the producers, but the actors didn’t agree. He emphasized that they didn’t know Sony Channel, even though the show used to air on it, since they were connected to Fireworks Productions, revealing that, though the collaboration lasted 21 years, they didn’t sign contracts with Sony Channel directly, as everything was only by word of mouth, also because their allegiance and paperwork were entirely with B.P. Singh’s Fireworks Productions.
Lata Ji Calling Sony America
Speaking about the show’s fandom, Dayanand shared that Lata Mangeshkar was a big fan of his show CID and the characters. He also mentioned that she loved them so much that she became a big support for them, as after the show went off air she fought for them. He revealed that she even called Sony America and questioned the show going off air, saying she watches the show, so why are they shutting it down.
Shooting 28 To 30 Days A Month
Highlighting that he had his best time during COVID-19, Dayanand shared that he worked almost every single day for 21 years even after CID ended in 2018, with 28 to 30 days a month. Explaining it further, he revealed that during the initial time he didn’t work the same way, but yes, for most of the years it was his schedule.
