Anupamaa the Star Plus show produced by Rajan Shahi’s Director’s Kut and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, the Sony SAB show produced by Asit Modi’s Neela Telefilms are as different as chalk and cheese in its genres!! As we know, the New Year has come up with new challenges in the field of entertainment, and of course, TV viewers look forward to new twists and turnarounds in the stories as well as in the ratings. Today (13 January) was special as it brought out the First Week BARC Ratings of the year 2022. So while there was this air of eagerness to see how the New Year will kickstart, an Instagram post by Malav Rajda, Director of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (posted yesterday) gained momentum and curiosity.
As per the post, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah made it to the first position of the top 10 shows for the week gone by.

Well, with the BARC ratings expected to release today (Thursday), the curiosity got higher of course, after this post started to make rounds. And as per the BARC ratings released today (13 January 2022), Anupamaa stands at #1 position with 4.2 TVR.
However, even before the ratings saw an official release, many media portals and publications went on a drive declaring Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as the #1 show after it toppled Anupamaa. But the ratings proved all of it wrong!!
Well, with a clear direction and understanding to the whole scenario, we at IWMBuz.com had a word with Malav Rajda, Director or Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah who said, “Honestly speaking, I am not much into the TRP and ratings matter. Our show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been around for 14 years, and we have had a long journey that has seen a lot of ups and downs. The fact that we are loved even today, talks volumes of the journey we have had. Frankly speaking, I was surfing yesterday when I saw the Ormax Power Ratings which showed Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as the most-liked show. This made me put up the post, as a gesture to appreciate my team’s hard work.”
“As I said, I never dig deep into the TRP of shows. I do not even ask about the ratings of my show every week. All I know is that Anupamaa is a daily soap drama and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a comedy show. There is no point comparing both the shows as they belong to two different genres. This post was in no way put to demean any other GEC show. As for our show, it has always been teamwork to churn newer concepts every week. We have been doing it for 14 years now,” he clarifies.

As said earlier, Anupamaa has been reigning TRP charts from the time it has launched. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been extremely popular and has been around for years.
