Producer Rajan Shahi, known for shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Anupamaa, and his daughter, Ishika Shahi, share their insights in an exclusive interview with IWMBuzz about their new venture into YouTube shows. Headed by Ishika, the show named Jabb Zodiacs Met and Heer Sharma Gayi has been receiving a good response. Opening up about the casting in the digital space, Rajan Shahi and Ishika Shahi share details.
In an exclusive interview with IWMBuzz journalist Sweta Gupta, when asked, Ishika explained how she understood the market by getting those on board who are popular digitally. To this, Ishika emphasized that they have to balance it out: for YouTube, they need someone who has digital print, but they also think of someone who fits the character, and when you have both, it’s a great deal. Because if you have someone who is a bit famous, it helps to push the show further.
However, when asked about content creators being cast, it becomes a big challenge in terms of acting. Clarifying her side, Ishika emphasizes it has become a plus point because actors are also nowadays digitally active, so she prefers to choose a good actor because if you cannot act, how long will the show run without acting, but if there is a balance of someone with digital presence and acting, it’s the best deal, and they find a balance in that matter.
Speaking on the same topic, Rajan Shahi shared his views, highlighting that he liked about Ishika’s first show Jabb Zodiac Met was that there were various actors from Sachin Tyagi, Urvashi Dholakia, Ashnoor Kaur, to Gaurav and others, so it was a perfect mix with someone being popular digitally while some didn’t have an account. While in the case of TV, he doesn’t look for followers but for the character and acting.
