Talented actor Rushiraj Pawar who is known for his mythological and historical shows RadhaKrishn, Devon Ke Dev.. Mahadev, Chandragupta Maurya etc is happy and satisfied with his work in the upcoming show Swaraj. The show which is produced by Contiloe and is a Government of India initiative will air on Doordarshan as well as on a renowned OTT platform.

Swaraj, as we know will be episodic stories that depict the journey and life struggle of unsung freedom fighters.

Rushiraj will play the role of Udmi Ram, who valiantly fought against the British in Sonepet. He, along with his wife Ratni Devi, was also tied to a peepal tree and nailed in the palms and legs, and left to starve. The “kolhu”, a testament to the cruelty of the British, was kept on a platform in Tau Devi Lal Park on NH-44 for public display.

When contacted, Rushiraj confirmed the news to IWMBuzz.com and said, “Yes, it was a great challenge to adapt to the Haryanvi dialect to play the role of Udmi Ram. He is one of the unsung heroes in the Nation’s freedom struggle, and playing him was an honour. I will be seen in a very different look, a macho one, with a moustache. I was extremely satisfied with the way in which I learnt the language of Haryanvi and got the dialect right.”

We also buzzed Producer Abhimanyu Singh but did not get through to him.

Swaraj will launch soon on Doordarshan and on an OTT platform.
