Hindi Television has seen a relatively tough phase wherein a lot of seasonal comebacks have not worked!! The reason for this can be multiple, but the bitter fact is that they have failed to meet the expectations of the original cult TV shows. From Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya, Beyhadh, Sasural Genda Phool, Balika Vadhu, to Thapki Pyar Ki, Hindi TV has seen a lot of heartbreaks with the cult shows not working well as seasonal returns.

Well, we at IWMBuzz.com have wondered what are the kind of concepts from the yesteryear bank that the Indian viewers will lap up with an immediate connect. We dated back in time and picked up some of the memorable TV shows that have ruled in the times they were in!!

Malgudi Days: This Indian TV show which aired in the 1980s was based on the short story collection by R.K. Narayan. The USP of the stories was that the plots were deeply rooted to the Indian culture, and spread intricate values. The series aired on Doordarshan. A new season of this simplistic tale, that will make the present generation aware of the basic humanitarian attributes that are needed to make life worthful, will be a good idea indeed!!

Byomkesh Bakshi: The Hindi TV programming lineup across all major GECs lacks an intellectual detective concept. A ‘truth-seeker’ on the lines of Byomkesh Bakshi might be the need of the hour!! This Doordarshan aired show had Rajit Kapur play the titular role with such great ease. Can we have a Byomkesh from the present generation of actors, please?

CID: The unique one of its kind show produced by B.P. Singh ran for more than 20 years. Hindi TV indeed misses these officers in action!! A new seasonal run of this cult show might just prove to be a winner, especially in the times where the drama concept has failed to recreate its magic with seasonal runs.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi: While we have said again and again, that a lot of drama concepts bit the dust in its return phase, there is a ray of hope with a cult show like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. This is a show made for every generation, and we can certainly dwell on this age-old concept, by adding elements of how a today’s bahu will love to lead life on her own terms!! Ekta Kapoor and Star Plus has started the re-run of this show, and we urge them to think of a new seasonal return too!!

Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin: Hindi TV has always triumphed with the tried and tested formula. So why not take the help of the plain Jane who is an exceptional decision maker? The show which brought Mona Singh into the limelight as a performer can very well be brought back with a new season.

Kaahin Kissii Roz: Again, Hindi TV will get better with a spine-hurting mystery show like Kaahin Kissii Roz. The show’s gripping and deceitful plot was the charm of the time it flourished in. This show produced by Ekta Kapoor can give a remedial dose to Hindi TV.

Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai: While most of the seasonal comebacks of the very recent shows have failed to deliver, Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai produced by Shashi Sumeet Productions, can be something that viewers will hook on to!! The reason being that this show had the flavour and ambience of the years gone by, and had the elements of the 1990s era.
