Veteran actress Apara Mehta, who is known for her iconic role of Savita Mansukh Virani, the mother of Mihir Virani and mother-in-law of Tulsi Virani from the iconic daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, in a candid conversation opened up on her marriage, divorce, friendships, and being called the ugliest.
In a recent conversation with a Hauterrfly host, sharing about her marriage, the actress revealed that she and actor husband Darshan Jariwala were married while they were studying. She revealed that they got married and went to their houses. And later, when their parents found out, they accepted the marriage but got them married again officially in a grand ceremony, and in that way she and Darshan were married twice.
When asked if she had a conversation with Darshan about their separation, Apara revealed they didn’t have a conversation, but when she was in the USA on their wedding anniversary, she called Darshan, who told her that he wanted to talk, but she was clueless. She further revealed that after she returned to the USA, Darshan told her, ‘We need to separate because I have fallen out of love with you, I don’t like you anymore, and you are the ugliest woman I have come across in my life.’
Opening up about her reaction, Apara shared that since she came home at 5 AM and then left for the shoot at 7 AM, during which she felt off and when she was in her senses, thought Darshan couldn’t have meant it, but one day he left the house.
Apara, sharing about their separation, said it was her and Darshan’s home, so the door is always open if he wants to come; he can come anytime, but he might not, and concluded by saying he knows I will never find someone like him, nor will he find someone like me.
Apara Mehta reportedly married Indian actor Darshan Jariwala in 1980 or 1982, and the two have one daughter together, but they have been living separately since 2003 without an official legal divorce.
