Roy used social media to explain public spaces, showing scary events that happened to her along her route to the stage and during her actual performance. The actress alleged that multiple male guests, including elderly men, inappropriately touched her waist while requesting photographs. The officials who received her complaint showed her anxiety as they reacted with aggressive behavior.
The situation escalated once Roy reached the stage. She claimed that two men in the front row made lewd remarks and obscene gestures while she performed. Other male guests recorded her without her consent from low angles, which made her uncomfortable, while they used verbal abuse to defend themselves against participants who spoke out. The incident made her feel humiliated and traumatized, which she described in her statement. She asked authorities to punish people who act in that way.
She took to her Instagram stories and wrote, “Have to also mention that the stage was on a height and these uncles were making videos low angel. When someone asked them to stop they abused em. I love my country our people our traditions but this? The guts. The entitlement of being men. O never put up anything negative i go through. But this. Have no words. Have no expression or abuse that would make any sense for this behaviour. We, as actors, go to these events to wish the bride and groom a happy celebration. We are their guests and they harass us like this. Yuk (sic).”
