TV and film actor Ram Kapoor recently participated in the reality show Lock Upp Season 1 (Lock Upp: Sach Yaa Sazaa) on Netflix. He recently sat down for a candid chat with journalist Nayandeep Rakshit, along with his wife Gautami Kapoor, in the presence of astrologer Dr. Alifya. During the interaction, Ram opened up about reality-show survival strategies, saying you have to be manipulative or people will ridicule you, like Harshad Chopda was in Lock Upp: Sach Yaa Sazaa.
During the conversation, Rakshit asked whether Gautami would ever consider entering a reality show. While Dr. Alifya nodded that a reality stint could be in Gautami’s future, she cautioned against it due to her personality traits. But she advised her not to because she is very emotional and soft, though she is extremely strong-headed; she isn’t manipulative- a trait essential for reality games.
When Rakshit noted how normalized it has become to equate survival with manipulation on modern television, Gautami expressed visible disappointment.
Ram Kapoor asserted that manipulation is simply the nature of the beast. He drew a direct comparison to his former co-contestant Harshad Chopda, whose emotional gameplay was heavily targeted by viewers.
He said, “You have to be like that in a reality show; otherwise, you are like Harshad Chopda, which everybody makes fun of.”
