Rohit Chandel, the popular TV actor known for his role in Pandya Store, was arrested on his Star Plus show Sairaab (he has since been replaced on the show) earlier in July and has been in jail for two months in a POCSO Act Case for allegedly harassing and stalking a minor. The actor’s bail plea was rejected three times in a row, reportedly because negligence and discrepancies in the chargesheet and the medical report by the investigating authorities have affected the decision.

However, reportedly, today, September 4, 2026, the matter is scheduled for the next hearing, and there has been no update as of early evening. Rohit’s family members, including his younger brother Mohit Singh Chandel, Harshna Chandel, Akshay Nikhil Kansara, and his lawyer, Saveena Bedi, issued a joint statement to fans in a post, expressing their gratitude and sharing a few details.

Sharing the statement, the post caption reads, “We are profoundly grateful to Rohit’s fans, friends, and well-wishers for the overwhelming outpouring of support, love, and prayers. Your unwavering belief in his truth and character has given our family immense strength and hope during this difficult time. Thank you for standing firmly by him. Jai Shree Ram.”

However, the statement mentions the challenging period: “This has been a deeply painful and challenging time for our family. Facing serious false allegations has taken an immense emotional toll on all of us. As a family, we stand firmly beside Rohit, with complete faith in his innocence, integrity and character, and with unwavering faith in the Judiciary of India.”

Emphasizing that they are bound by law not to disclose key details and that negligence has adversely affected the actor, “Since the matter is presently sub judice, we are constrained from discussing the specific facts or merits of the case. However, it is deeply distressing to witness how serious discrepancies, documentation errors and apparent typographical inaccuracies in the records prepared by the investigating authorities have prejudicially impacted Rohit.”

Further added, “Among other errors, an unmarried person has been recorded as married. The chargesheet further reflects Rohit Chandel, who is Hindu, as Muslim, and describes a professional actor as a businessman. These are not insignificant details when official records are relied upon in proceedings affecting an individual’s liberty, reputation and future.”

Reflecting on Rohit’s reputation, the statement says, “We firmly believe that an individual’s liberty and reputation should never become collateral damage to procedural negligence or inaccuracies in official documentation. Rohit has built his career and professional reputation over many years through hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Watching his professional livelihood, public standing and personal reputation suffer such serious damage on account of allegations and apparent inaccuracies in official records has been devastating for our entire family.”

Keeping faith in the judiciary system, it said, “At the same time, we continue to repose our complete faith and confidence in the Indian Judicial system and remain hopeful that the Hon’ble Court will take due note of and address all procedural lapses and discrepancies at the appropriate stage and in accordance with law.”

And lastly, the statement shared that further details on the case will only be shared by Rohit’s lawyer, Saveena Bedi: “Any official updates regarding the proceedings will continue to be communicated strictly through Rohit’s Advocate and only to the extent permitted by law, keeping in mind that the matter remains pending before the Hon’ble Court.”
