TV Star Rohit Chandel who was shooting for his newly launched show Sairab was arrested recently on the night of July 9, 2026 and has been jailed under the POCSO Act. It has now been two months since the actor was arrested, and he is still in jail. And despite repeated petitions for bail, the court has yet again rejected the bail plea.

As per the reports, the Ghatkopar police arrested the actor under the POCSO Act; however, in the matter, the police have made several mistakes in the investigation and even with the medical test doctor.

The reports suggest that the TV actor has been described as a businessman in the police diary instead of an artist, and similar mistakes earlier also led to the rejection of bail.

Reportedly on chargesheet Rohit’s religion was written as Muslim along though on July 10, it was changed to Hindu Rajput. Besides these, there are also mistakes in the medical report from July 27. In the marital status section, the actor was described as married, which led to rejection of his bail.

Speaking on the matter Rohit Chandel’s lawyer Sweena Bedi to ABP said, “In such cases, a person’s being married or unmarried is not just a simple personal detail, but when this information becomes a part of the police diary and is considered in the judicial proceedings, So it becomes of special importance. My client Rohit Chandel was wrongly recorded as ‘married’ by the medical officer and the police, even though he is unmarried.”

She also added, “This mis-recorded information has had an impact on my client Rohit Chandel and has also affected his bail proceedings. As a result, Rohit’s work opportunities and livelihood have been affected, and his reputation has been severely damaged. Such a mistake on the part of the investigating agency should not have an adverse effect on the person who is currently facing trial.”

Due to negligence, Rohit’s bail was rejected, and he is expected to seek bail from the court during the hearing on September 4, 2026.
