Television actor Vijayendra Kumeria, known for ruling hearts with shows like Udaan, Teri Meri Doriyaann, Deewaniyat, Naagin 4, and others, has become a hot topic in the news. The heartthrob, who has been silent amid speculation about his marital life, has now confirmed his separation from his wife, Preeti Bhatia, after a decade of marriage.

In a conversation with TOI, Vijayendra said he wasn’t ready to address rumors about his personal life, but now he feels it’s better to clear the air. He said, “All this while, I was not ready to talk about it, as I myself was trying to figure out and accept things that were happening in my personal life. I have always been a private person, and maybe I didn’t know how to handle that situation. But with time, I realised that instead of people making assumptions, it’s better to clear the air.”

Vijayendra married Preeti in January 2012, and after a decade together, the couple felt separation was the right decision. The actor shared that he and his wife tried to reconcile for years before starting to live separately in 2022, after which they eventually got divorced in 2025 with mutual consent.

“Such decisions are not taken overnight. We started having a lot of differences and compatibility issues, which escalated with time. It’s not that we didn’t try to resolve our issues, but eventually things didn’t work, and we separated in 2022. It was a mutual decision, and we got the decree in 2025.”

Vijayendra highlighted that divorce was a difficult decision to make for him and Preeti, especially because of their daughter Kimaya, which is why the couple tried to reconcile for years, but things didn’t work out eventually.

“It was a difficult decision because a child was involved, and that’s the reason Preeti and I tried for years to save the relationship, primarily for the kid.”

The Udaan actor also reaffirmed that the decision they made is also beneficial for their daughter—to receive love from both parents separately rather than living in an unhappy environment.

“But I think it’s better for Kimaya as well to experience love from both parents separately instead of growing up in an unhappy environment. Like any parent, we want the best for her, and that’s what we are doing.”
