Zakir Khan has announced he will take a long hiatus from comedy, citing that his body can no longer withstand the strain of unending tours. The announcement was made during a live performance in Hyderabad, part of his ongoing tour, Papa Yaar. A video of the performance in which Khan told the audience about his decision was posted on Tuesday and soon went viral across various social media platforms.

In front of a full house, the comedian Zakir said that his leave could be for several years, probably until 2028, 2029, or even 2030, when he will be through with his existing obligations. Khan, while performing in Hyderabad, said that quitting comedy has been necessary for him. He talked about the break that would last for three to five years to heal physically, mentally, and also to settle his other personal issues. The artist could not hide his feelings as he thanked the audience profusely, telling them how dear they are to him and how much their support means to him.

He said, “I’m going on a long, long break. Probably till 2028–29, or even 2030. It will be a break of three, four, or five years to take care of my health and to sort out a few other things. So everyone present here right now is very close to my heart. Your presence means more to me than you can imagine, and I will always be grateful to all of you. Thank you so much.” per The Indian Express.
