Ramesh Kumar Chaudhary has been a reputed Casting Director in the entertainment industry who has been in the field for more than a decade. Having worked passionately for the television and OTT spaces, Ramesh strives for perfection when it comes to his work.

In a candid chat with IWMBuzz.com, Ramesh talks about the evolution of the process of casting with time. “Casting has become more structured and tech-driven. We now use auditions via video, casting platforms, and even virtual meetings. It is also more inclusive and professionally managed compared to earlier, more informal methods.”

Been known for identifying raw talents and bringing out the best in reputed actors in roles tailormade for them, Ramesh talks about his forte in casting. “I excel at spotting raw talent and matching actors to roles that truly fit their energy and potential. I focus on emotional depth and screen presence over just appearance.”

People in casting are more often than not, accused of opting for social media standing of actors when compared to talent. He has this take on the same, “While social media can boost visibility, talent always takes priority—especially in serious roles. We only consider followers when the competition is close.”

“Experienced actors bring skill and reliability, while newcomers offer freshness and flexibility. It depends on what the role needs,” he adds.

On the challenges that are faced when casting, he says, “Scheduling conflicts and high demand due to OTT shoots are major challenges. Also, finding authentic faces for period roles with the right dialect and presence can be tricky.”
