Hats Off Productions, helmed by JD Majethia and Aatish Kapadia, has spent over two decades redefining family entertainment on Indian television by shifting away from typical saas-bahu melodrama toward relatable, middle-class narratives filled with warmth, intellect, and progressive values. The banner’s celebrated show Pushpa Impossible, on Sony SAB, recently completed its four-year run. Pushpa Impossible stands as a testament to the banner’s signature storytelling style.

We at IWMBuzz.com talked to Producer JD Majethia exclusively about this humongous feat, where he talked about his banner’s legacy of giving wholesome family entertainment, and about the show’s long run.

Never take your audience for granted at any stage, under any situation.

Talking about how Pushpa Impossible has carried forward the legacy of the banner when it comes to creating iconic family comedies, JD says, “Hats Off Production is perceived as a comedy content creator, but it is much broader, and we call it family entertainment content creation. Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, Wagle Ki Duniya, and many other shows were not just comedies but were perceived as such. Aatish and I at Hats Off always believe in creating life-impacting and entertaining content, which Pushpa Impossible is, and the team of writers, directors, actors, and technicians have echoed our passion to sustain this classic and make it what it is today. So, once again, good teamwork helped ensure the magic of a family entertainment show from Hats Off.”

Talking at length about Karuna Pandey in the central role of Pushpa, the Producer says, “Working with Karuna Pandey is a pure joy. She is from the NSD and is supremely talented, disciplined, hardworking, and fun on the set. She is quite close to Pushpa in real life and on the set.”

The one core message is to love, respect, and understand your mother and her needs, as she is one of the most important people in the family, but is taken for granted in most people’s lives.

In a TV space where many shows struggle to survive past a few hundred episodes, Pushpa Impossible has given wholesome entertainment for four years now. Talking about keeping the topics in the show relevant and creatively fulfilling, he says, “The secret is focus and hard work in every department. It should be even more now, as it adds to the responsibility that comes with the success, love, and respect Pushpa Impossible has received so far. Never take your audience for granted at any stage, under any situation, that is the summation.”

Thanking the channel, he avers, “We cannot thank the SONY SAB team enough for commissioning such a path-breaking show, and for trusting and supporting us throughout till date, because of which we have achieved this milestone with a lot of joy and no stress during this long journey of Pushpa Impossible. Imagine we have hardly had any replacements in the first 1000 episodes. Even after the leap, the team of writers, directors, and technicians has remained the same, and that bonding and teamwork have enabled us to reach this milestone with smiles, laughter, and happiness.”

Lastly, if he had to pick one core message that he would wish to give the audience on this trademark feat of the show, he says, “The one core message is to love, respect, and understand your mother and her needs, as she is one of the most important people in the family, but is taken for granted in most people’s lives. Her learning, education, and growth are equally important as those of the school-going child in the house.”
