The show has seen a lot of twists and turns and the exit and entry of many characters according to the storyline. The leads then and now have changed completely, with a change in the storyline. Hina Khan and Karan Mehra/ Vishal Singh:
The lead characters Akshara and Naitik, a couple married through an arranged marriage and their life journey together as a couple and with each other’s families. Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan:
The current main characters are Naira and Kartik. Naira is the daughter of the old lead pair and Kartik is Naira’s husband. This couple had their relationship fall apart numerous times and back again. This couple is more strong-headed and a modern one.

The character of Naksh, brother of Naira was played by many actors as he transitioned from a baby to an adult. Currently, Shehzad Shaikh plays the role.
