The land of Punjab has always been renowned for its rich heritage of music, melody, and artistic excellence. With the vision of preserving this legacy and providing a grand platform to hidden musical talent from every corner of the state, GTC Punjabi launched its first major musical initiative, “Surtaj of Punjab.” The show has now established itself as a memorable musical journey.
The competition offered countless talented singers from across Punjab an exceptional opportunity to showcase their voices, artistry, and dreams before a vast audience.
The primary objective behind “Surtaj of Punjab” was to provide a strong platform for gifted artists who possess immense talent but lack the right opportunities to present their voices to the world. The initiative not only recognized emerging talent but also gave wings to many aspiring dreams.
The musical journey began with auditions in Bathinda, where participants from across Punjab impressed the judges with their singing abilities. The auditions then traveled to Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Chandigarh. Every city echoed with fresh voices, and with each stage, the competition became increasingly exciting.
Following the auditions, 32 outstanding contestants were selected for the studio rounds. Throughout various stages of the competition, these talented singers displayed exceptional vocal skills, creativity, and dedication to music. With every episode, both the intensity of the competition and the audience’s excitement continued to grow.
A distinguished panel of judges was assembled to evaluate the contestants, featuring renowned music composer and artists Jaidev Kumar, Gurmeet Singh, and Jyotica Tangri. Along with assessing the contestants’ performances, the judges also motivated them by sharing their valuable experience and expert guidance.
To further encourage the participants, several eminent personalities from the Punjabi music and entertainment industry appeared on the show at different stages. These included Padma Shri Hans Raj Hans, Bibi Ranjit Kaur, Jasbir Jassi Ji, Pammi Bai, Lehmber Hussainpuri, Bir Singh, Sapna Choudhary, Simran Bhardwaj, Akhtar Brothers, Kanth Kaler, Feroz Khan, Aatish, Balkar Ankhila and Manjinder Gulshan, Ekam Chanoli, Amar Sehmbi, Sargi Maan, Davinder Khannewala, Kala NizamPuri, Sukh Khroud, and Harvinder Harry, among many other celebrated artists, who added prestige and inspiration to the platform.
After a long journey filled with intense competition and heart-touching performances, the Grand Finale of “Surtaj of Punjab” took place, where the finalists mesmerized both the audience and the judges with their exceptional performances.
Following an outstanding finale, Sumit from Dharamkot, Moga district, emerged as the winner and was crowned the “Surtaj of Punjab.” He was awarded a cash prize of ₹3.5 lakh.
Manpreet Singh from Phagwara secured the first runner-up position and received a cash prize of ₹1 lakh.
The third position ended in a tie, with Nand Dildar and Sunny Bal, both from Amritsar, jointly securing the spot and split shared cash prize of ₹50,000.
Altogether, the winners received prize money totaling ₹5 lakh, recognizing their hard work, dedication, and passion for music.
All the contestants also signed an agreement with GTC Punjabi to feature in their Shows and release fresh content and Music.
