Mahabharat the 1988 TV series created by B.R. Chopra was one huge epic that set a trend of the television watching on Sunday mornings!!
The show enthralled audiences of every age, and I as a writer too imagine those days as a student, when I used to wait for the Sunday morning airing of the epic Mahabharat. It used to be total family time, and the series was huge for the eminent cast that it had. Actors of that era from the likes of Nitish Bharadwaj, Mukesh Khanna, Gajendra Chauhan, Praveen Kumar, Arjun, Roopa Ganguly, Puneet Issar and others illuminated our TV screens. It was great viewing and the epic ran for about 94 episodes.
Mahabharat on Star Plus came in the year 2013 and had a good run. The show was a magnum opus presentation coming from Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Swastik Pictures and was known for its accurate research and presentation, and even its production values. The show again had a huge cast with Saurabh Raaj Jain, Shaheer Sheikh, Pooja Sharma, Aham Sharma, Aarav Chaudhary, Arpit Ranka and others being part of it.
With the Coronavirus pandemic playing spoilsport, the two epic shows of the past have been brought back for a re-run.
And trust us, the two shows are gaining huge momentum.
