The episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai starts with Kartik saying that Sirat saw YouTube tutorials and made rangoli. Dadi tells Sirat to do rangoli every day. Dadi tells Surekha to make the pooja plate ready. Surekha says her nails will break. Dadi tells her to cut her nails then. Dadi stops Kartik and asks when did he learn to make rangoli. She says she can read emotions. Kartik gets shy and goes away. Dadi prays to keep both Kartik and Sirat happy. Suwarna tells Manish that he was hesitant to accept Naira first but later she won his heart, so Sirat will do that too. Manish says she was Naira and this is Sirat. He says he is worried about those who have expectations from Sirat, what will happen when the expectations are not fulfilled.
Kartik and Sirat bring Ganpati idol. Kairav’s teacher calls Sirat. Sirat asks Kairav did they really have a half-day at school. Kairav says yes. Kartik asks what happened. Sirat says the teacher called informing that the boys went missing after lunch. There was no half-day or power failure, they bunked the class. Kairav and Vansh say sorry. Kartik asks how could they lie to them like this. Sirat says she thought they understood and went to school. Kairav says they made a mistake. Sirat says she doesn’t want to talk to them, as they lied multiple times on pooja. Kairav hugs her and says it won’t happen again. Manish says kids make mistakes and learn.
Sirat says she won’t listen as she gave them many chances, to tell the truth. Kairav says sorry, Kartik tells them to go to their room. Suwarna tells Sirat to forgive the kids. Sirat says they need to understand their mistake. Surekha says Sirat doesn’t know how to raise kids, angering them will only push them away. She says Sirat is not their real mother, so punished and sent them away for such a little issue. Sirat says she is a stepmom but she knows what is right and wrong. She says Maudi used to love her but also scold and punish her when she did wrong. She wants her kids to understand what’s right and wrong and hence she knows what she did is not wrong.
Suwarna tells Surekha to remove such thoughts from her mind. Dadi says she should never say this thing to Sirat again. Gayu says Sirat showed the real definition of a mother. A mother should not only be love-blinded but also strict. Akhilesh tells Surekha he is ashamed of her. Surekha says she just thought that since it’s Sirat’s first festival after marriage she should not have made such a big issue. If the kids are sad how will Lord Ganesh be happy? Kairav and Vansh give sorry notes to Sirat. Sirat angrily comes into the room. Kartik says she is punishing herself. Sirat says she should have tried hard to win the kids’ trust. Kartik says he can say things. Sirat says people will say it’s father’s love, but in her case, they will say it’s stepmom’s drama.
