Sourabh Raaj Jain, recognised for his impactful performances and strong on-screen presence, has built a deep connection with audiences through his versatility and ability to portray a wide range of characters. He is currently seen in Sangamarmar, streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

On the occasion of World Theatre Day, Sourabh spoke about his experience with theatre and how it has shaped his approach towards acting, especially with his recent stage play Mere Krishn, which premiered last month and has been receiving a positive response from audiences. Often regarded as a true training ground for performers, theatre has given him a first-hand understanding of discipline, preparation, and the responsibility that comes with performing live.

“I had always heard about theatre being a true training workshop and school, and I have been blessed to have gotten first-hand experience. There’s nothing like the challenge of performing in front of a live audience, of memorising pages upon pages of lines when there are no retakes, when you don’t get to perform better right away. The best foot has to be forward the minute you step onto that stage, which is quite a responsibility, but also one that hones your craft in a way like no other medium can. The applause in the end, also live, is the cherry on top because your audience is right in front of you, and there is no middle ground to gauge how they felt about your performance. For me, theatre has been a breath of fresh air, a new school, a new chapter which I hope makes me a better actor,” says Sourabh.

For Sourabh, theatre continues to be a space of learning and growth, allowing him to engage more deeply with his craft while building a stronger connection with audiences through live performance.
