Candid conversation with Suyyash Rai

The best part of web is that you are not bound by censor norms: Suyyash Rai

Suyyash Rai is really spreading his wings as a singer. After the success of Khushnuma (Zee Music), which featured him in the video along with better half, Kishwer Merchantt, he will soon be seen in one more song called Saaya (new company OSM Records). “The video, which features me and a Delhi girl, will not only stream on YouTube, but will also air on music channels and FM stations, as a full-blown single.”

Suyyash, who will also be making his playback debut this year, says, “Cutting music videos is very lucrative, in the sense that you reach a very large number of people, and if you are good, you net cash-rich concerts. I recently did 2 gigs in Chhattisgarh and the crowds went crazy. It was not easy to croon for three hours at a stretch. What was really heartening was that they loved me as a singer and not as a reality-show actor (Bigg Boss) who also has a good voice.”

Suyyash hopes that the makers don’t go overboard and resort to stunts like buying likes to make the song go viral. I know how the system works and prefer the organic route.” Prior to this, he had also acted and sung for a YouTube video, which also featured Charlie Chauhan. “There are a couple of more songs in the pipeline as well.”

Coming to acting, Suyyash is currently doing Sony ‘s Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya (Pehredaar Piya Ki part 2). “It is going well. Working with Tejasswi Prakash and Rohit Suchanti is a breeze.”

“To be honest, TV acting does not give me satisfaction, for the story is always victim to TRPs. Hardly any show can remain true to its original concept. Hence, I am doing a web series, L For Love, for the producer of the above song (web division, Vipra Dialogues)”, says Suyyash, who has done other TV shows such as Roadies, Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani, Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani, Phir Bhi Na Maane…Badtameez Dil, etc.

“The best part of web is that, since you are not bound by censor norms, you are free to present your character as you want to. Here we show my character spouting MC, BC, which is how Delhi lads talk. They themselves are not able to relate when we show them not abusing.”

“The cast of this sex comedy includes well-known film actor Brijendra Kala and Rajesh Khattar, besides other Delhi actors. Brijendraji and I would jam before scenes, to take out unnatural stuff.”
