Karanvir Bohra to convert his upcoming short film on the Rajiv and Sonia Gandhi romance into an international feature

TV superstar, Karanvir Bohra, who had earlier announced a short film titled Ijaazat, on the love story of former Prime Minister of India, Rajeev Gandhi, and former Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, now plans to convert it into an international feature film for both desi and global markets.

“I am not only producing it but will also play Rajeev sir in it. We are in talks with several well-known directors to helm the film and will announce the name soon. The European schedule might start next month”, says KV, who is also producing and acting in his adaptation of the super-hit film Darr, called Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna. His father and grandfather have also been in the film-making business.

Who will play Sonia Gandhi? “The search is on for a talented, good-looking Western girl, as we want to remain true to the concept.”The above pilot-turned-politician met Italian student Sonia Maino while they were studying in England.

Have you taken permission from the Gandhi family? “We have asked someone to talk to them on our behalf. I don’t think there should be trouble, for we’re basing our film on facts that are already in the public domain; no fiction will be added”, says KV, whose last TV outing was the super-hit Naagin 2. Prior to that, he had done Qubool Hai,Dil Se Di Dua… Saubhagyavati Bhava, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, etc.

He has also taken part in nonfiction shows such as Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Khatron Ke Khiladi Darr Ka Blockbuster, etc.

Given the rising political temperature with the 2019 general elections on the anvil, are you not afraid of controversy?“Our film is not political, but if somebody wants to create noise, how can we stop him or her?”

We wish him well.
