Actor Pratik Sehajpal, who stars as Hriday in Ishika Shahi’s latest series The Lift on the Director’s Kut Production YouTube channel, recently shared his experience working on the project, offering high praise for the young director’s creative direction and insight. Ishika is the Creator, Writer and Director for the series. Starring Adaa Khan as Hrishika, Pratik Sehajpal as Hriday, Mohak Meet as Suchit, and Seema Azmi as Surekha, the series, produced by Director’s Kut Productions, brings four very different lives together through one unexpected chain of events.
Reflecting on his bond with director Ishika Shahi, Pratik highlighted their strong connection both on and off the set, noting how her age belies her deep understanding of filmmaking. “Ishika is an amazing person. First of all, she’s also number nine, and I’m also number nine, so we are alike. We are similar. She’s so creative and intelligent. She is always sitting on the set, looking at the monitor, or coming to guide us. She is very young, but she understands every small detail. I feel she has a very bright future ahead.”
Pratik detailed how Ishika’s keen eye for detail significantly enhanced his approach to performance, frequently catching nuances that brought new life to his scenes. “When she used to come and guide us in the middle of scenes, I would realise that she was right. Sometimes, I had not noticed something before, but after she pointed it out, the scene would change completely. I’m sure we will see each other at the Oscars.”
Addressing the viewers, Pratik encouraged everyone to approach the series Lift with an open mind and embrace its thematic depth regarding morality, redemption, and human intention. “I would just say to the audience, take it and enjoy it. It is entertainment. You can judge it as good or bad, whatever you want. Just watch the show and enjoy it. I feel that you should keep your intentions clean, have a good heart and not hurt anyone. Keep your morals strong and do good things without worrying about the result. You should not do good deeds only because you want heaven and not hell. Just try to do good deeds. That is what matters.”
