Hiten Tejwani has just wrapped up the shoot of a 40-minute film called Silver Gandhi, which promotes the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and his love for cleanliness. “Our Dr. Avinash Nanda-directed and Sanjay Masom (Kabil and Krish)-written short is just a small contribution to PM Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat drive.”

“The story is based on a real-life character who wanted to promote cleanliness in his Odisha town but was not meeting success. So he eventually decides to make his hair silver like the Father Of The Nation. He also dresses up like him in Khadi.”

“We have wrapped up shoot in Bhubaneshwar, and once the edit is done, we plan to take it to Delhi and try to get an audience with Modiji. This is not a commercial venture but our attempt to help him clean India. I too want to do my bit to help clean up our streets.”
“I enjoyed the shooting process. Also, as it was based on a real-life character, I had to be careful so as to not hurt sentiments.

Hiten’s co-star in Silver Gandhi is film actor Ananya Sengupta. “It was fun shooting with her and the entire team.”

For the moment, Hiten is taking a break from TV, wanting to try his hand at web. He has earlier done cameos in Alt Balaji’s Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat and a lead character in Eros Now crime show, The Investigation.

“As an actor, one must always push the envelope. So I am ready to play edgy characters as the web calls for. I have done the good boy role for long, so time to show a different side to the audiences.”
