For actor Anubha Arora, who is seen in The Bengal Files, success in the industry cannot be defined. She believes it is human nature to ask for more and continually set new milestones.

She says, “It can never be defined because it is never completely felt. Because the minute you achieve something that you have always wanted to, there will be another thing that you want to achieve too. So success, in my opinion, is a process, not a destination. If the process is on, you are successful.”

Having spent her fair share of time in the industry, she shares that the best advice she received consisted of two very important words—persistence and discipline. She says, “Everyone says that the only thing that will keep you going is persistence and discipline, and that’s one piece of advice I never let go of.”

As for a lesson that Anubha has learned over the years, she avers, “No matter how low or high someone is in the hierarchy, you should always treat everyone with equal respect at any stage of your life. Someone told me, the people you meet while climbing up the ladder will also be the people you meet while coming down.”

Bollywood is often misunderstood for being just about the glitz and the glamour, and the audience often has a lot of misconceptions about the industry. Sharing her thoughts on this, she says, “People still feel that only people with contacts can make it as an actor, but that’s a myth. There are many actors who made it without ‘contacts’ and many who couldn’t even with ‘contacts’.”

And what about professional rivalries? “I completely detach myself from any competitive toxicity. I refrain from people with that persona. I try and focus on my self-improvement and take my last project as a benchmark for my next one,” Anubha ends.
