Arav Chowdharry, who was recently seen in the Colors TV show Dhaakad Beera, recently had his first experience with shooting for the vertical-format content. He was seen playing a powerful role in the recently live microdrama series Zindagi Ka U Turn, for Pocket TV.
Calling this growing medium of the shorter vertical content the new trend, Arav says, “Shooting for the vertical content is a new format for me, and I guess, it is the case for many here. This medium came into existence 6-8 months back, and is seeing a rapid growth.”
“When I was approached for this series, I was keen on jumping into the new medium. If we look into real life, everyone gets time from their routine work and hectic schedule to look into their phones for some kind of content. The positive aspect of this medium is that you need not sit in front of a television set within the confines of your home. You need not go to a theatre. You can be conveniently placed wherever you are, and spend time watching content on your mobile,” he says.
Calling this new medium the next biggie, Arav states, “This is probably going to be a parallel industry very soon, something like content being made for the vertical format, just like how it happens for TV and films. As for my experience, it is exciting to be part of this growing medium, and here I am.”
Talking about Zindagi Ka U Turn, Arav avers, “It is a show where you have a lot of drama and action. It has been shot very well, at great locations, with beautiful cars put on display. The storyline is interesting and is all about power, business, and fights.”
Ask him about the positives of this medium, and he says, “Technically, it is challenging. You are filming on different cameras at the same time. The challenge is to shoot multiple scenes without a break, just the way we perform in a theatre. You don’t have time for anything, as you are filming around the clock. The camera and lighting setup are very different from what happens in a TV and cinema shoot.”
