At a time when performances are often defined by high drama and louder emotions, Balaji Studios’ Pyaar Kii Raahein 2, a YouTube Originals, is doing something strikingly different. Manav Dua, who plays Rudra, is drawing attention for his restrained yet deeply intense portrayal. In an exclusive interaction, the actor opens up about how the platform allows the show to break away from conventional storytelling.

Speaking about how Rudra’s relationships have evolved in the show, Manav shares, “Rudra Shekhawat began as a feared man driven by power and control, until Priya changed him in quiet ways. She didn’t stand against him but with him. In the second season, betrayal didn’t break Rudra; it carved him into something more dangerous. His silence speaks louder than words, his restraint holds more power than rage. The world may see him as cold, but beneath that stillness lies a heart that has known both. And yet Rudra still loves Priya with the quiet strength of a father who would burn the world to protect his daughter.”

Highlighting the advantage of YouTube as a platform, Manav explains how it enables more honest storytelling. “With Pyaar Kii Raahein 2, being a YouTube Original series, there’s a certain creative freedom that comes with the platform, more so than traditional television sometimes can offer.”

He goes on to say, “On TV, there are often certain boundaries, broadcast guidelines, or a wider general audience that you always must keep in mind. But YouTube storytelling gives you the space to take risks, to show characters in their rawest emotional form, and to explore situations that are more layered, more real, and sometimes more uncomfortable. I feel this show does take those risks, but not for shock value. The risks are emotional and narrative risks. It pushes characters into situations where there are no clean heroes or villains, just human beings. So yes, I do feel YouTube as a platform has freedom and that’s what makes the show more real and more intense than what we sometimes get to do on traditional formats.”
