Love empowers you, but when you start chasing it, you lose yourself, making you the weakest. Kuku TV’s new micro-drama, Fake Wife, is relatable in that sense. The story opens up with an intriguing premise, but the wobbly sequence struggles to maintain a consistent narrative flow.
Fake Wife opens with the story of Dev and Riya, who were once married, but everything becomes chaotic when Riya’s brother, Prem, and sister, Pooja, accuse Dev of stealing Riya’s money after they meet almost a year after their divorce. Dev was a one-sided lover, and Riya accepted his proposal only because she didn’t wish to hurt his feelings. But the married life was never happy for Dev as he was reduced to a slave while Riya was busy pursuing her first love, Avinash.
However, Dev chooses to leave Riya after five years, as his marriage contract ends, and decides to free himself from the insult, betrayal, and chaos. But what happens next keeps viewers hooked. While the storyline wobbles with the predictable turns, what truly saves the experience is the cast’s commendable performance.
The micro-drama stars popular actress Divya Agarwal, known for her appearance in the OTT show Cartel, actor Vibhav Roy, known for shows like Gustakh Dil, and Aarchi Sachdev, who was last seen in Kumkum Bhagya. Especially, Divya and Vibhav’s chemistry in the show became the centre of attraction, turning the predictable love story into a heartfelt experience.
Visually, the micro-drama is appealing, with interesting character development, stunning performances, and high drama packed into mini episodes. Even with a basic storyline, the cast’s dedicated performance, high drama, and emotional notes make this a good watch.
IWMBuzz rates Fake Wife 3 out of 5 stars!
