Weaving new stories does grab attention instantly; however, playing with the familiar, predictable narrative to turn it into a riveting tale is a true surprise. And the same is true of JioHotstar Tadka’s latest microdrama, Middle Class Rajkumar, which explores a familiar family drama narrative with high emotional depth, engaging sequences, shocking twists around every corner, and drama that keeps you invested.
Set in Maharashtra, the story follows Vansh, a young auto driver who accidentally meets Piyali, a girl whom Vansh’s father, Dev Pratap Deshmukh, raised after her father died. However, she runs for her life and takes shelter in Vansh’s auto. She leaves with a file in the auto, which Vansh reads and is shocked to discover that he is the heir to King Dev Pratap Deshmukh.
And when he asks his mother, Sandhya, Vansh discovers that his grandmother, Leelavati, threw his mother and him because she was poor, and becomes emotional as he hears the news of his father’s death. In his quest to return to his true place and reclaim his position as the heir of the King, Vansh discovers shocking truths that serve as hooks for the show. But what lies ahead is not something we can predict; while it may seem like moving along the familiar path, an unexpected turn will catch you by surprise.
Directed by Jayant Gupta, he kept things engaging with his balanced storytelling. The sequences, drama, and chemistry added value to the story. His writing and screenwriting also shine, making the drama feel addictive and enjoyable.
Actor Vishal Chaudhary, as Vansh, balanced his emotional and strong sides. In one moment, he held high to defeat his enemies, while on the other hand, he brought his emotional depth to the story that felt connecting.
Actress Aditi Sanwal brought meaning, strength, and true partnership to the table as Piyali, Vansh’s love interest and a key factor in the family drama.
Produced by Don Vanzara Showbiz LLP and created by Sanket M Vanzara, the microdrama Middle Class Rajkumar is an engaging watch. While keeping the main story familiar, it smartly engages viewers by introducing a new angle through dramatic, addictive sequences.
