Lukkhe, the title itself gives us a clue what the series focuses on. However, while Lukhke means a jobless person or someone with no direction in life, the web series takes it in a different direction, but it’s not so different that it feels new. The series aims to show a world of drugs, rap music, and crime that doesn’t feel out-of-the-box, but it still works in parts, with strong performances.

Won’t tell much about the storyline, but the series is somewhat like Udta Punjab, shedding light on the rap music world in Punjab. It follows the story of two aspiring musicians who are caught up in an illegal supply of drugs in Punjab. However, this isn’t a story to tell that drugs are wrong, but shows what one can do for their dreams, be it committing crimes. The intense action and drama blend the darkness with the sparkling lights of rap music.

Though the series seems familiar at times, the narration, compelling scenes, and a view into the world of rap music make it engaging in parts, while there were moments that felt flat, with the storyline leading to no clear end.

In his debut, singer-songwriter Arpan Kumar Chandel, known as King, takes center stage with his on-screen presence as MC Badnaam. His character is layered, and the singer delivers his part with conviction.

Palak Tiwari adds emotional depth with her character of a recovering drug addict. She is placed well and helps the story. While Raashi Khanna looks fierce, undoubtedly, she is ruling with her magical performance.

Director Himank Gaur, with conviction and fine detail, shows the world of rap music, drugs, drama, and crime in Punjab. Produced by Vipul D. Shah and Rajesh Bahl under the banners Optimystix Entertainment and White Guerrilla LLP, the crime drama engages viewers, but at times it feels repetitive. However, the strong performances work in favor. Special mention to the music composed by King, OAFF, Savera, and Sunny M.R. All the tracks elevate the experience, saving the experience of the web series, shining in parts.

IWMBuzz rates Lukhhe 3 out of 5 stars!
