Story TV’s latest offering, Rented Pati Nikla Karodpati, is just another story tracing a familiar rich-and-poor premise and failing to bring anything fresh to the table. Following a predictable narrative, the drama tries to impress with convenient twists and conventional emotional beats, but this makes the story feel stale.
Storyline
The microdrama follows Veer (Harsh Rajput), a billionaire disguised as a mechanic. He gets rejected by Tanya (Aparna Mishra), his girlfriend, who ditches him due to his poverty and low status. Veer meets Naina (Niyati Fatnani) unexpectedly, who hires him to disguise himself as her rich boyfriend to save her from getting married to a local goon. What follows is the usual family drama, deceit, jealousy, and more we have seen many times.
The short-format show follows a familiar relationship betrayal, family drama, hidden identity, and big reveal—the kind of story we’ve seen in almost every other drama.
However, despite the familiar tropes, the performances by the main cast, Harsh Rajput and Niyati Fatnani, emerge as the show’s biggest saving grace. They deliver conviction and energy, adding much-needed weight to otherwise underwhelming scenes. The supporting cast, including Ashish Kedar and Aparna Mishra, also elevated the dramatic moments.
While the chemistry and dramatic moments occasionally manage to hold attention, the writing rarely matches the performers’ efforts. From the dialogues to the screenplay, everything feels repetitive and dull, which hurts the overall experience. Visually, the film looks impressive, and maybe that’s the point that even makes this bearable.
Ultimately, Rented Pati Nikla Karodpati is a bearable watch. It is a microdrama where strong performances do most of the heavy lifting, rescuing an otherwise predictable narrative.
