Assorted Motion Pictures announces The Wallet starring Naseerudin Shah

What does one find in a wallet? Some find currency and some find memories. Producer Ram Kamal Mukherjee presents his next Hindi film The Wallet, which revolves around a similar premise. Directed by young and talented Saumitra Singh, the film was making its international rounds at the festivals and bagged almost 77 national and international accolades across film Festivals. The film stars legendary actor Naseeruddin Shah and Navni Parihar in the lead. Shot in Mumbai, this Hindi short fiction talks about love and longing in a poetic form. The film will be premeired on newly launched BiiggBang Amusement this monsoon.

“I have grown up watching Naseer saab films, and I don’t have words to express my gratitude towards a legend like him. When Saumitra mentioned The Wallet, I couldn’t imagine anyone other than the cast that Saumitra had selected for his film. It was an instant ‘falling in love’ moment for me,” says producer Ram Kamal Mukherjee, who is releasing this film under his banner Assorted Motion Pictures. “This journey wouldn’t have been possible without Saumitra’s mother Shipra Singh (aunty) who actually supported him to fulfill his dream. The mother and son bonding was yet another unique combination that pulled us towards this project,” added Ram Kamal. The film is also produced by Aritra Das, Sarbani Mukherjee and Shashwat Joshi.

Speaking of the film Naseeruddin Shah says, “It’s not easy to tell a story in a short time. I am impressed by the way Saumitra treated the narrative. He is a young boy, trying to tell new stories through a newer medium. As an actor we all evolve and this is a part of my journey too. The film surpasses my expectations.”

Overwhelmed working with Naseeruddin director Saumitra Singh says, “Working with Naseer saab was a dream come true for me as I have never thought that he will be acted in my first short film. I do believe that every story decides their actors and The Wallet is something which needs an actor like Naseeruddin who has not acted but put his soul into the character.”

Speaking about challenges in making the film Saumitra added, “The challenge which any maker faces during the making of a film is finance. It is true that without finance you can not make a movie but then the other crew members who are a part of any project are equally important and their effort and hard work pays off in the end. I am really thankful to my mom Shipra Singh, my friend Garima Shukla and Ram Kamal sir from Assorted Motion Pictures that we have not faced any major challenges during the making of The Wallet.”

He further added that he insisted on working with senior actors because they come with experience. “They do a lot of homework before coming on the set. So 60% of your job is already done. Like Naseer saab and Navni ji were equally professional and she was perfect for the role of Asma. I never knew that she also had a dream to work with Naseer saab. The Wallet fulfilled her dream. I heard she has been waiting almost 25 years to act with him and with this project one of her bucket list wishes became fulfilled,” added Singh.

Speaking about his association with Assorted Motion Pictures director Singh added, “I really appreciate the support of Assorted Motion Pictures and Ram Kamal sir. Ram Kamal being an independent director not only appreciated the film but also understood the effort and passion behind the making. As most of the time people judge the capability of the director or actors or the project without understanding the pain behind. I am also thankful to Yash Jain who has introduced me to Assorted Motion Pictures.”
