Avrodh on SonyLIV looks a must watch

Avrodh Will Take An Indepth Look At The Uri Strike

We had a riveting feature film on the Uri surgical strikes in 2018. Bluntly titled Uri the film directed by Aditya Dhar was a comprehensive war epic. But in many ways, it was unable to bring out the more elaborate details that went into the planning and execution of the surgical strikes. Two hours is not enough to tell a story so epic in its sweep.

The webseries Avrodh: The Siege Within produced by Applause Entertainment for SonyLIV will delve into the entire episode of the Uri surgical strike with as much candour and conviction as the streaming platform permits. Sources say the series based on the book by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh will spare us none of the details.

The trailer of Avrodh brings across a document of fortitude in a language that is racy and frantic. But authenticity never seems to be compromised here. None of the frenetic peccadilloes or the derivative the distraction of the recent action film Extraction here.

Apparently the producers have spared no expenses to ensure Avrodh comes across as a polished product. In the trailer the production values are of the highest order, with the cuts and pauses in the narrative effectively navigating a story that really has no room for pauses.

The cast helmed by reliable actors like Neeraj Kabi, Anant Mahadevan and Amit Sadh knows they are in this not just for the bucks. There is far more at stake here than entertainment. But nonetheless, the trailer suggests a series that will have us watching eagerly as the blood and bullets explode at the battlefront without glorifying the act of military aggression.
