One of the biggest awards nights, the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, took place on September 14, 2026, at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, California, hosted by Mariska Hargitay.
Apple TV’s comedy-horror series Widow’s Bay emerged as the biggest winner of the evening, taking six major Primetime prizes, including titles like Comedy Series, Lead Actor for Matthew Rhys, Supporting Actor for Stephen Root, Supporting Actress for Kate O’Flynn, Directing for Hiro Murai, and Writing for Katie Dippold, adding to the eight trophies the series already collected at the Emmys. Widow’s Bay, with a total of 14 wins, became the first comedy series to have collected this many awards in a single year.
The Pitt dominated the dramatic genre, winning Drama Series and giving Noah Wyle his second consecutive Lead Actor Emmy. Rhea Seehorn won Lead Actress for Pluribus. The awards show saw many surprises, and here’s a full list of the Emmy 2026 winners.
