The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) founded the Indian Premier League, which has developed into the most successful and well-known cricket league in the world. Matches typically start in the late afternoon or early evening so that at least some games are played at night under floodlights to maximize the television audience for international broadcasts. Initially, league games were played on a home-and-away basis amongst all teams, but with the anticipated growth to 10 clubs (split into two groups of five) in 2011, that structure was modified so that some teams’ matches would only be played once.

The top four teams face a battle in three playoff games, with one club losing each one team receiving a second chance to advance to the championship match as a novel twist designed to increase possible television revenue. The four teams who placed first through fourth in the standings compete in a round-robin format of elimination matches to determine which club advances to the championship game.

Even though he was ultimately beaten by the winning team in the 2019 final between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, he had a scorching inning of 80 runs in just 59 balls. Later that evening, Watson’s teammate Harbhajan Singh noted that Watson continued to bat despite having a bloodied knee. Although C.S.K. lost that game, Watson will be remembered for his valiant innings for a longer time. He had to get his knee stitched up after the game because he damaged it while diving.

Unquestionably one of the most memorable I.P.L. The match is the one between Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chinnaswamy Stadium in I.P.L. 5 (2012). In a furious duel, Mr. 360 AB de Villiers and one of the world’s most aggressive bowlers, Dale Steyn, faced off. At 90 mph that day, Dale Steyn was frequently bowling over. However, AB de Villiers hit 47 off just 17 deliveries, including five fours and three sixes, hooking every bouncer and swatting slower balls out of the park. Steyn could not help but clap and flashed A.B. de Villiers a smirk when the game was declared won with seven balls remaining.

Two storms occurred within one day during the 2012 match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pune Warriors on April 23. The game was first halted for 33 minutes by rainfall, and then Christopher Henry Gayle, the “Universal Boss,” unleashed another storm. He also set the record for the fastest century and most score in a T20 contest, among other records he broke during the game. Gayle scored 175 runs while remaining unbeaten in just 66 balls. He hit the ball for a stunning 17 sixes, the most of any batter in a T20 inning, sending the ball flying beyond the boundary line.
