Rachel went to prom with her best friend, Ben, who has Down syndrome. Ben can be seen in the video breaking down in tears as soon as he realized what was going on. “My prom date is better than yours,” the caption reads in the video, which was posted on April 23, 2018.
‘Ben is so wonderfully loved in our community, and the only reason I filmed and posted the promposal was so that the people who know and love him could enjoy it,’ Rachel added. Rachel and Ben have been friends their entire lives, according to CBSNews.com. Rachel was the only person who could help Ben relax, and Ben was someone Rachel could always count on.
Rachel was uninformed for a long time that Ben had Down syndrome, and their connection is genuine. Rachel tells CBS News, “I think someone informed me eventually and explained it.” Ben was and continues to be her best friend, and his Down syndrome has no bearing on their relationship.
