A normal shoot turned into a mishap at Love & War’s set with the tragic death of a crew member. Love & War is one of the much-anticipated Bollywood films that has been generating buzz, but this time it has caught our attention for a disheartening reason. Reportedly, a crew member who was a carpenter passed away on the sets in Mumbai.
According to the Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union (FSSAMU), a 42-year-old carpenter named Chandradhari Yadav died while working on the sets of Love & War, the film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles. The incident took place at Royal Pump Studio in Goregaon East, and it happened on June 17, around 3 am.
The reports further suggest that the incident may have resulted from a short circuit, leading to the tragic accident. But the exact cause of the demise has yet to be confirmed. While reports suggest he died due to an electric shock. The carpenter was survived by his wife and two daughters.
After the incident, workers’ unions stepped up to seek support for the family. According to reports, FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) and FSSAMU jointly approached the film’s producers and urged them to provide financial assistance. Following this, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s production house reportedly agreed to provide Rs 40 lakhs as compensation to the carpenter’s family.
In addition, FWICE president B.N Tiwari has requested that the producer take responsibility for the education of Yadav’s daughters. He also highlighted that workers are made to work overtime and go beyond their limits, and that once the Yadav’s post-mortem report comes in, further action will be taken. He also emphasized that no matter how big the production house, director, actor, or anyone else is, they cannot put workers’ lives at risk.
While FWICE general secretary Ashok Dubey opened up about the incident, revealing that Chandradhari was working continuously on the set for three days, from 7 am to 3 am, even on the day of the incident. He reportedly suffered an electric shock, following which he was rushed to the hospital, where he died. The association has also requested Bhansali Production to employ the carpenter’s wife.
