The 15th Photography Exhibition of renowned photographer Dr. Kausik Ghosh, along with the launch of his 13th photography book, “BLUES”, was inaugurated on Tuesday evening at the Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkata.

The evening marked a significant milestone in Dr. Ghosh’s artistic journey, bringing together art, thought, and conversation. The exhibition presented a striking collection of photographs centred on the theme “BLUES”, exploring the emotional, aesthetic, and philosophical dimensions of the colour blue through a powerful visual narrative.

Following the inauguration, an informal panel discussion titled “Presence and Perception of BLUES” explored the influence of the colour blue on creativity, art, religion, spirituality, cinema, human moods, and its neuro-psychological interpretations.

The panel featured eminent personalities including Samik Bandopadhyay (Critic), Atri Bhattacharya, IAS, Chandra Bhattacharya (Artist), Raju Raman, Barun Chanda (Indian actor and author), Sudripto Tagore, and Ashok Viswanathan (Indian filmmaker), who shared diverse perspectives on the thematic and emotional resonance of blue across disciplines.

The discussion was further enriched by interactive audience comments from Abir Chatterjee, Ishaa Saha, Amrita Chattopadhyay, Premendu Chaki, Arindam Sil, Arghyo Kamal Mitra, Srikanta Acharya, Lagnajita, Premendu Bikash Chaki, and Ipsita Barat, reflecting on both the theme and the photographic works on display.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Kausik Ghosh said, “Through ‘BLUES,’ I aimed to capture the depth and many moods of a colour that is both calming and profound. Blue is not only a visual experience—it evokes emotions, memories, and reflections. This exhibition and book are my attempt to explore its presence in art, life, and the human psyche.”

The event saw the presence of distinguished guests from the fields of art, cinema, literature, music, and academia, making it a vibrant confluence of creative minds. Together, the exhibition and book launch reaffirm Dr. Ghosh’s enduring engagement with visual storytelling and thematic exploration through photography.
